Shining on Stage at Musical Theatre of Anthem
Musical Theatre of Anthem (MTA) is currently in its 14th season in Anthem! We have worked with over 2,000 youth in over 100 productions. Our mission is to develop youth and adults within the field of performing arts while enhancing their intrinsic creativity and brokering their vast talents. MTA trains and educates youth so they can become the artists, patrons, and leaders of tomorrow while providing opportunities to adults to empower them and foster their creativity.
MTA is guided by key principles such as casting all youth who audition, setting and achieving high artistic standards, offering moments for performers of all abilities to shine, and providing a positive and family-friendly atmosphere where we instill the belief that working hard and giving your best will produce the greatest results and satisfaction. Performers learn the benefits of discipline, teamwork, and dedication.
"MTA changed my life. It was here that I discovered my passion, was given an incomparable education on the business of theatre, and met an army of role models and life long friends that I know will forever have my back through anything. I can hardly imagine what my life would be without all this theatre has given me. It is my home away from home, my safe space, and the place that helped me grow into the person and performer that I am today. Upon graduating from ASU in 2019 with my Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre Performance, I was offered a 10 month contract as a Resident Actor at The Dock Street Theatre in Charleston, South Carolina. Cut a month short due to Covid, I returned to Arizona and started teaching private voice lessons. Once Covid slowed down, I was offered another 10 month contract with Charleston Stage set to end this May, and am still teaching private voice lessons. I’m in the process of figuring out what comes next, and am thankful for the many ways MTA has prepared me to navigate this unpredictable field. Thank you to MTA and it's incredible instructors for giving me the skill sets, love, and confidence to be able to do so." - Julia Kelly-Davis
"MTA provided me with a family and a community that lifted me up and supported me no matter what. I made lifelong friendships and connections with people of all ages. Most importantly, MTA gave me an outlet to create. From the very first moments I performed with MTA, I knew I wanted to perform and do musical theatre for the rest of my life. I will always be grateful for the lessons and truths I learned here." - Jayda Mendiola
